When Becca died in September of 2020, Becca's family wanted to make something positive come out of this terrible tragedy.

2020 Designees:

When Becca was 14 she and her mother traveled to Opatoro, Honduras as part of a medical brigade led by Community Health Partnership-Honduras (CHPH) - an experience that had a profound effect on her understanding of the world and her passion for social justice. Becca also collected hats and glasses for the people of Opatoro and after her trip continued to volunteer for CHPH. In honor of Becca’s connection to the work at CHPH, after Becca’s death we created two funds in collaboration with Community Health Partnerships Honduras.

When Becca was 15, she was raped. The rape had a devastating impact on her life which is why her family wanted to raise funds in support of others who have had similar experiences.

  • The Jane Doe Inc, a state-wide coalition that supports victims of sexual assault and helps develop public policies to prevent sexual assault from occurring.

2021 Designee:

Boston Medical Center Catalyst Clinic - In 2021, the Becca Schmill Foundation began a collaboration with the Catalyst Clinic. The Foundation set a $94,000 fundraising goal, in honor and memory of the 94,000 American lives lost in 2020 to drug overdose, to support Catalyst Clinic research. This research will improve their ability to effectively treat adolescents and young adults with substance use disorder. It is our most sincere hope that this work will positively change many young lives and the lives of their families.
